Right now we are in Barcelona, where the Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup regattatakes place from August to October - one of the grandest events in the world of sailing! The races take place in the waters of Port Vell and along the beaches all the way to Port Olímpic, where the teams' bases are located. This is a historic moment for Barcelona, as it is the first city to host three major international sporting events at the same time: the Olympic Games, the FIFA World Cup and the America's Cup.
Watching the six teams battle it out:
Emirates Team New Zealand.
INEOS Britannia (Great Britain)
Alinghi Red Bull Racing (Switzerland)
Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team (Italy)
New York Yacht Club American Magic (USA)
Orient Express Racing Team (France)
It's an incredible spectacle. The main races are sailed on AC75 class speed boats, while AC40s are used for training and special races, including the first-ever Puig Women's America's Cup regatta in Olympic Harbor.
I look forward to the America's Cup main event starting October 12, 2024, where the top teams will battle it out for the trophy. For spectators, a special Regatta Village viewing area in Port Vell has been organized, and you can also watch the races from the beaches.
